What should be included in a cleaning contract?
A cleaning contract should name both parties, the service address, and the services. It should state the frequency, the day and time, the price, and the payment terms. It should also say what is included and what is not, so the client knows the limits of the job.
The clauses cover common points where cleaner and client can disagree. Access and keys, supplies and equipment, pets, and breakage and damage each deserve a line. Leaving them out does not stop a problem from happening, but it leaves you with no written answer when one does.
Do I need a contract for house cleaning clients?
A written agreement is useful for a house cleaning client because it sets expectations on both sides. The client sees the schedule, the price, and the cancellation rule before the first visit, and you see the access and pet terms before you arrive. A written agreement also gives you a record to point to if a question comes up later.
Use the Frequency and Day and time fields to record the regular schedule. A regular client on a fixed schedule benefits most from having that schedule written down, since it removes doubt about which day the cleaners come.
What is a cancellation policy for cleaning services?
A cancellation policy says how much notice a client must give to change or end the service, and what happens if they do not. This template sets the notice to end the agreement at 30 days by default. It sets a re-clean request window of 24 hours and a late cancellation rule of less than 24 hours, with a $50 fee by default.
For a home client booked every two weeks at $165 a visit, a cancellation inside 24 hours would trigger the $50 fee under the default settings. Enter 0 in the fee field if you do not want to charge one.
What is the difference between a cleaning contract and a service agreement?
A cleaning contract and a cleaning service agreement are the same kind of document. The title is editable, so you can call it whichever name your clients expect. The clauses and fields are the same either way.
Choose the name your clients will recognize. Then check that the title and the body use the same words, so the document reads as one agreement.
Is this template legally binding?
This template is a starting point, not legal advice. The page and the printed document say so, and laws on service contracts differ by state. Have a local attorney review the document before you rely on it with clients.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the clauses in the template?
Yes. Each clause can be switched on or off under “Clauses to include,” so you can keep only the ones that fit your business. You can also add your own wording in the Additional terms box.
Can I use this for commercial clients as well as homes?
Yes. The form takes any Frequency from weekly to one time, and the Services and price lines work for homes and offices alike. Enter the Service address and the terms that fit the job.
Will my logo appear on the printed page?
Yes, if you upload one. A PNG, JPG, or SVG file of up to 300 KB is accepted, and the logo is kept in this browser only. Use a small, simple logo so the printed page stays clean.
Who signs the contract?
The printed document has signature lines for your company and for the client, with a date line. Enter the names to print on those lines before you print. Sign the printed copy, or keep the PDF for your files.
What if I do not want a late cancellation fee?
Enter 0 in the late cancellation fee box and the clause does not charge a fee. The notice period and the re-clean request window still apply. You can change the hours and the fee as often as you like before you print.
Can I save my document and come back to it later?
Yes. The document is saved in this browser as you type, so you can close the page and return to it on the same browser. Your details are not uploaded anywhere, so keep a PDF copy of any signed agreement.
