A deep cleaning cost calculator estimates the price range for a deep clean of your home. The page opens with Cleaning type set to Deep, so enter your home size, bedrooms and bathrooms, and the estimated price appears in the dark “Estimated price” box. The tool is free, runs in your browser, and needs no account or sign-up. Nothing you type is uploaded.
The same calculator also handles Standard and Move-out cleaning, so you can switch the type and see how the total changes for the same home. A deep clean is estimated at 1.31 times the time of a standard clean, which reflects the gap between deep and standard cleaning in Thumbtack’s national ranges. The result is a planning estimate, not a quote from a local company.

How to use the deep cleaning cost calculator
- Leave Cleaning type on Deep. You can switch to Standard or Move-out to compare.
- Enter the Home size in sq ft.
- Enter the number of Bedrooms, Full bathrooms and Half bathrooms.
- Choose a Condition: Light, Average or Heavy. Heavy buildup adds time.
- Set Cleaners to the number of people who will work on the home. The price stays the same, but the visit gets shorter.
- Tick Pets in the home if you have pets. This adds 10% to the time.
- Choose your State, or keep US average.
- Tick any Extras you want, such as Inside oven, Inside fridge, Inside cabinets, Interior windows, Wipe walls, Baseboards, Laundry or Garage sweep.
- Read the Estimated price box, then check the receipt for the cleaner-hours, time on site and the hourly rate used.
The How often setting appears only when Cleaning type is Standard. For a deep clean, you won’t see it.
Read the receipt to see how the deep clean was priced. It shows the hours for a standard clean of this home and the hours for a deep clean, so you can see how much of the total comes from the deeper work.

How much does a deep clean cost?
A deep clean is priced as cleaner-hours multiplied by a company rate of $36 to $48 per cleaner-hour at the US average. For a 1,600 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home, the tool estimates 6.18 cleaner-hours and a range of $225 to $295. A larger home, 2,400 sq ft with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, comes out at $280 to $370. Your state, condition and extras change the final figure.
What is included in a deep clean?
A deep clean goes beyond routine dusting, sweeping and wiping. It usually adds baseboards, door frames, light switches and vents, plus the areas behind and under furniture that can be moved. Built-up grime in kitchens and bathrooms is also part of the work. Inside the oven, fridge and cabinets are often treated as extras. The tool lists them that way, with Inside oven at 0.75 hours, Inside fridge at 0.5 hours and Inside cabinets at 1 hour, so each one adds time when you tick it. Baseboards is an extra too, at 0.5 hours.
How long does a deep clean take?
The tool first estimates a standard clean, using 1.5 hours per visit, plus 0.0008 hours per sq ft, plus 0.25 hours per bedroom, plus 0.6 hours per full bathroom, plus 0.3 hours per half bathroom. A deep clean is then 1.31 times that standard time. Condition changes the total as well: light is 90% and heavy is 125%. The receipt shows the standard time and the deep time side by side, so you can check the figures for your home.
Deep clean vs regular clean: what is the difference?
A deep clean covers the extra tasks listed above and takes longer than a standard clean of the same home. In the tool, deep cleaning time is 1.31 times standard time. Thumbtack’s national range for deep cleaning is $190 to $265, compared with $146 to $202 for standard cleaning. The How often setting is not shown for deep cleans, so the tool does not price a recurring deep clean.
How often do you need a deep clean?
The calculator does not recommend how often to book a deep clean. Its How often setting applies only to Standard cleaning, where weekly visits take 80% of a first clean’s time, every-two-weeks visits 85%, and monthly visits 90%. Ask your cleaner what they recommend for your home, including pets, foot traffic and how quickly the home gets dirty.
Frequently asked questions
Is a deep clean the same as a move-out clean?
No. Move-out is a separate type in the tool, with time set at 1.40 times standard, compared with 1.31 times for deep. Thumbtack’s national range for move-out cleaning is $200 to $286. Choose the type that matches the job you need, not just the name of the service.
Is the estimate a real quote?
No. The result is an estimate, not a local quote. Ask cleaners in your area for a price before you book, and compare what each price includes.
Why does the price change by state?
The tool scales the estimate by each state’s median cleaner wage from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, compared with the national median of $17.07 per hour. For example, the California median is $20.51 and the Mississippi median is $12.19. A state with a higher wage gets a higher estimate, and a state with a lower wage gets a lower one.
Does the number of cleaners change the price?
No. The Cleaners setting does not change the price, only the visit. For the 6.18 cleaner-hour example, two cleaners would take about 3.09 hours on site. The tool does not promise a visit length, so ask the cleaner how many people they plan to send.
Do pets change the deep clean estimate?
Yes. Ticking Pets in the home adds 10% to the time, so both the estimated price and the time on site go up.
Can I save my estimate?
Not yet. Saving estimates is coming soon. For now, use Copy link to keep the exact estimate in your bookmarks, or use Print to print the result.
